Dear Foothill–De Anza Community College District Community,
I am writing to share a brief update regarding Acting President Dr. David Wain Coon’s
transition to De Anza College.
I am pleased to share that Dr. David Wain Coon will begin his role as Acting President
of De Anza College on May 4, 2026. Dr. Coon will be working remotely for his first
week, and we will welcome him on campus the week of May 11.
Over his first 90 days, Acting President Coon will focus on listening, learning, and
building connections across De Anza College. He will support the Senior Leadership
Team in executing the 90-Day Priorities shared at the March 2026 Town Hall which include:

Meeting with faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and students to understand current needs, opportunities, and concerns

Supporting a stable, respectful, and collaborative work environment grounded in shared governance

Reviewing ongoing initiatives to ensure continuity of key institutional priorities

Strengthening communication and transparency across the college community

Identifying near-term actions that support student success, equity, and operational effectiveness
The development of a timeline and process for the permanent president search is underway. Once
finalized, we will share additional details with all of you.
