Message from the Chancellor | New Study Finds Our Impact Reaches Far Beyond Our Campuses

September 28, 2026

Please note: This email is being sent to all Foothill-De Anza Employees.

Dear Foothill-De Anza Community,

Over the past year, the District has been working to better understand the value and impact we make in our region. I am excited to share the results of a new economic impact and investment analysis that demonstrates the significant value the District brings to our students, our region, and the State of California.

According to the study, conducted by the District’s Institutional Research and Planning team in partnership with Lightcast, the District added $1.7 billion to the Santa Clara County economy in FY 2024-25, supporting 11,293 jobs.

Our alumni contributed $1.4 billion in added income to the county economy through the knowledge and skills they gained at Foothill College and De Anza College.

For every dollar students invest in their education at the District, they are expected to receive $6.50 more per dollar earned in higher future earnings over their working lives.

The benefits extend to our taxpayers and our broader community as well. Every dollar of public investment in the District generates an estimated $3.20 in taxpayer benefits, while every dollar invested generates an estimated $14.60 in benefits to California society.

These numbers tell an important story about the power of community college education. When our students succeed, families, employers, and communities benefit.

Behind every one of those successes are our faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and staff.

Thank you for the work you do every day to create access, opportunity, economic mobility, and student success. The impact of our work is measurable, but its true value is found in the lives and futures we help change.

Somos Uno. We Are One.

Sincerely,

Lee D. Lambert
